I didn't even know how to title this. I think it's the first post I've never titled in the four plus years that I've been doing this. It's kind of a depressing post, but I figured I'd address some of it like it will have meaning to who reads it and because I'm bored.
I'm starting to lose faith in humanity. I've come to see why there are four years of high school. It isn't too much, but isn't too little either. It's just right. I'll miss people after this year, but depending on what people are doing for college and what I was talking to my friends about tonight at the basketball game, I'll probably be hanging out with them a lot still so it isn't too bad. I can see a lot of people changing though. Most for the worse and it's kind of sad to watch because there isn't much you can do about it, but when you think back to how a lot of these kids used to be, you start to realize how much harm they're doing to themselves just by living their every day lives in the way that they do. I'm not talking socially, but more physically speaking; everyone is doing fine socially simply because they're physically hurting themselves. More than 80 percent of my graduating class spends most of their weekends drunk or high. Excuse me for being an outcast, but it all seems a bit ridiculous. It's hard to believe that we're all going to be in charge of the country in one way or another in less than 10 years. It's a frightening thought with how some of the people I know are.
Even I, myself, have been one of those people. I'm not a drug user or a drinker, but the way I have been before, some people probably looked at me as one of the most immature people in the school whether I was funny or not... it's pathetic to know that we're all this age and acting the way we are. I'm not saying that this is everyone, but the vast majority has become very out of touch with society and how it needs to work. (hence my "new years resolution" to be a bit more mature)...
In contrast to the last 50 years, we're at the peak of economic failure and we've still got people ignorant enough to it, that they want to scam people out of their life savings. The worst part of that is that those people are some of the biggest stock brokers on Wall Street.
When you put it all into perspective, I'd say that the world is the worst that it's ever been. At some point, it's going to be every man/woman for him/herself. I wont get into why I think that it's this way because I'll probably get flamed by whoever reads this because I have my own opinion. I've learned that being opinionated in these things usually results in somebody getting mad at me for using my constitutional right to freedom of expression and speech.
The most incredible part about the entire thing (although there is so much I didn't mention here) is that it could be changed by doing so little. |
